More Wind Mills of Dennis
The previous post illustrated historic windmills in West Dennis and Dennis Village. The following illustrates similar windmills in Dennisport. These scans were provided to me by Burt Derrick of the Dennis Historical Society.
The windmill in the above postcard is located behind the barn in the right hand side of the picture. According to the book “Postcard History Series Dennis” this picture is in the Depot Street and Pleasant Street area near where the Church of the Nazarene once stood. The book reports that to the left of the picture is the Dennisport Graded School with an Old Post Office to the right of the picture. Below is an inset from that picture:
In this postcard we see a rooftop windmill just to the right of center on the building with the open barn door. The book “Postcard History Series Dennis” reports that the church seen in the background is located in Harwich. Below is an inset from this postcard:
