Flood Zone Maps Update

January 17, 2012

The pending update to the FEMA Flood Insurance Rate Maps has been further postponed.   Based upon correspondence I have had with the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation the Flood Map Modernization maps we previously received have been discarded.  A new map set will be distributed using a new “RiskMAP”  process which uses the work completed on the previous mapping exercise.  From what I have been told, we will have a new set of draft maps in hand in the next several months with a possible adoption of the new maps in 2013.

Since I have no idea what the new maps will look like, I have taken down the page with the version of the maps we expected to adopt this year.  Soon I will replace that with a map of the existing flood zones that will remain in place for the time being.
