For the past few months I have been trying to place the recommendations made in the 2002 Local Comprehensive Plan into a single place and to identify the actions the town has taken to implement these recommendations. That effort has been completed, at least to the best of my ability. I now strongly encourage your review of these past recommendations and actions by the town so we can move forward with crafting the recommendations for the next decade.
Please go to the LCP Blog and read what has been presented to date. I still have some basic inventory of existing facilities to complete, but we need to also start the discussion of where we want to be in the coming years. This will all be coming to the Planning Board over the next couple of months.
As I crafted this section, I did notice that the 2002 plan might have been a bit too specific. In fact, I found a couple of recommendations for the north side, which were actually carried out on the south side. As we think about where we are going, we need to be aware that too specific a recommendation, such as building sidewalks on Pearl Street (if there even is one in town) may not happen in the coming decade. But, recommending extending the town’s sidewalks generally is something we can accomplish.
