The Planning Board is considering a proposal to bring an Artisans Market to Dennisport. While nowhere near the scale of Pike Place Market, the roots of Pike Place are deeply buried in the same concept, artisans and farmers having a place inviting to the public to sell their goods. When I visited, years ago, the offerings ran the gamut from fresh fish (a centerpiece of the show that this public market has become) to organic spices, volcanic ash molded into statuettes to clothing made from sustainable plant material. A successful public market could be a major draw to Dennisport.
A word of caution for the applicant, Pike Place Market did not become a daily operation over night.
