The Town of Dennis will host Federal Emergency Management Officials on August 7, 2013 for an explanation of changes they are making to the Federal Flood Insurance Maps as well as changes Congress has made to the Flood Insurance Program itself.
The workshop will run from 3 pm until 8 pm at the Dennis Senior Center. It will include opportunities to meet one on one with FEMA Officials to discuss how these changes specifically affect you. In addition, we have invited local insurers to participate in the workshop to discuss individual needs.
Dennis has about 4,000 homes that the Federal Government is adding to the flood risk areas. Many properties are also changing from flood prone areas to areas subject to wave action. All these changes impact the requirement for, and the cost of, flood insurance. Congress has also made changes to the costs of flood insurance to make the program self-supported. All these changes will have significant impacts on Dennis homeowners. For more information, call the Dennis Planning Department.
